Hi-Res Photos of Collapsed Condo in Shanghai

Hi-Res Photos of Collapsed Condo in Shanghai

We've found some high resolution photos of the condo collapse in Shanghai last Saturday. Looks pretty interesting. More juicy details are emerging.

Apparently, the construction company - Shanghai Meidu Real Estate Company - working on this project is doing so illegally, its construction license expired way back in 2004. Many would-be residents are demanding their money back, but it seems that they will only be compensated if the other buildings are found to be unsafe.

Many factors might have contributed to the collapse, including days of heavy rainfall that preceded the incident. Imagine the catastrophe had the residents moved in. Anyone remember Highland Towers in 1993?

The collapse highlights the shoddy and shady construction industry in China, as developers rush to make a quick buck, cutting corners here and there. So if anyone out there is thinking of buying China property, beware!

Take a look at these photos, they are pretty amazing!
